The U.S. Chapter of 1t.org brings together U.S.-based companies, nonprofits, and government entities dedicated to the global mission of cultivating healthy, resilient forests. Achieving the ambitious goal of one trillion trees requires large-scale action, and this chapter seeks to inspire leadership across all landscapes—from urban centers to remote wilderness—ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

As the world faces the increasing challenges of climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss, our collective responsibility to protect and restore natural ecosystems has never been more pressing. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our commitment to 1t.org, a global movement working toward the ambitious goal of conserving, restoring, and growing one trillion trees by 2030.

Why One Trillion Trees?

Trees and forests are a critical nature-based solution to climate change. Trees play a critical role in maintaining the health of our planet and forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing CO₂ from the atmosphere and helping to mitigate climate change. Trees also help prevent soil erosion, regulate water cycles, and provide habitats for countless species. According to scientists, planting, conserving, and restoring trees at scale could provide up to one-third of the climate mitigation needed to meet the goals set out in the Paris Agreement.

While one trillion trees might sound like an almost unachievable number, the initiative is grounded in science and guided by the belief that we all play a part in securing a sustainable future. Each tree planted, conserved, or restored is a small but powerful step toward a healthier and more resilient planet.

The Role of the 1t.org US Chapter

1t.org provides innovative technologies to unite tens of thousands of groups, both large and small, worldwide in their efforts to plant trees and restore forests. This “global greening community” will enable the sharing of essential funding and best practices, which are crucial to achieving the goal of a trillion trees within the next 6 years. The US chapter of 1t.org is positioned to mobilize the leadership and resources of US-based companies, nonprofits, and government agencies. By fostering collaboration and boosting local reforestation efforts, the US chapter aims to drive measurable progress toward the trillion-tree goal. It provides the tools, partnerships, and guidance needed to achieve large-scale impact nationwide.

This chapter also plays an essential role in facilitating best practices, ensuring that trees are planted in ecologically sound ways, and maximizing the environmental and social benefits of reforestation projects.
